Meet Alderman Osterman

Harry Osterman is a progressive, independent voice committed to serving our community.

Harry was born in Chicago and grew up in the Edgewater community.  A life-long resident of the 48th Ward, Harry is committed to raising his children in this diverse neighborhood.

Serving as a State Representative for 11 years, Harry worked tirelessly for the Andersonville, Edgewater and Rogers Park neighborhoods fighting for legislation to improve the quality of life in our community. He led the fight to close the gun show loophole, renovate the Broadway Armory, increase safety for seniors and nursing home patients, expand early childhood education, and improve our local schools. As a long time supporter of the LGBTQ community, Harry also worked to pass the civil union legislation.

For the last 8 years, as Alderman of the 48th Ward, Harry has partnered with neighbors, block clubs, small business owners and community stakeholders to vastly improve public safety, support and improve our local schools, create programs for our youth, support and expand our small business community, and help neighbors with their constituent services in an open, responsive and transparent way.

Harry is a proven fighter for our progressive values!
